Late Season Mid-Day Turkey Hunting Tips

On this edition of “Spring Chronicles,” host Jason Cruise will discuss how to setup on a gobbler during a midday hunt. (Jason Cruise photo)

On this episode of Spring Chronicles, host Jason Cruise has teamed up with Dave Miles of Mossberg for a textbook midday turkey hunt.

Shortly after arriving at a farm before noon, Cruise and Miles locate a hot gobbler. Due to their location and the position of the bird, Cruise decides to back up to create more distance instead of moving closer.

The strategy was to make the gobbler think a hen is moving away, and to gain a setup advantage with the surrounding terrain. It’s a midday hunt where everything goes exactly as planned.
