Fried Walleye Tacos Recipe

Total time: 30 minutes


  • 4 walleye fillets
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • ½ cup flour
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • ½ cup plain yogurt
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 2 teaspoons chopped, fresh dill
  • Juice of a lime
  • Salt, to taste
  • 8 flour or corn tortillas
  • Optional toppings: chopped red onion, grapefruit, orange segments


1. Lightly coat the walleye fillets in flour. Dredge fillets in eggs, then flour. Coat with breadcrumbs

2. Heat olive oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Fry walleye until golden brown. Set aside.

3. While fish is frying, make the sauce by combining the yogurt and mayonnaise. Add cumin, cayenne pepper, dill, lime juice and salt to the mixture and stir.

4. To the center of each tortilla, add walleye, a spoonful of sauce, and desired toppings.
