Sportsman Channel and Partners Host a Successful HUNT.FISH.FEED. Event in Harrisburg
03/19/2010

New Berlin, Wis. – (March 18, 2010) – More than 20 volunteers from legislators to Comcast employees to the local baseball team were on hand last Tuesday to help cook and serve 40 pounds of Elk chili for Harrisburg’s homeless as part of Sportsman’s Channel Hunt.Fish. Feed. program. Harrisburg was the third stop for the network’s national tour, whose partners include Safari Club International Foundation and Comcast at this location.

The Hunt.Fish.Feed. initiative is a unique outreach program that taps an underutilized food source—game meat and fish donated by sportsmen—to feed those struggling with hunger across America. For more information on Hunt.Fish.Feed.SM, including an informational video, visit www.huntfishfeed.org.

"We're thrilled to bring our Hunt.Fish.Feed. initiative, a program that in its first year provided thousands of the nation's hungry with nutrient-rich meals, to the Harrisburg community," said Todd Hansen, Chief Marketing Officer of Sportsman Channel.

“Comcast is proud to join Sportsman Channel’s Hunt.Fish.Feed initiative to raise awareness of hunger in our area and help meet the needs of those affected by it,” said Jim Samaha, senior vice president of Comcast’s Keystone Region. “We have participated in Hunt.Fish.Feed events in Pittsburgh and other cities, and we look forward to the chance to make a difference in the lives of Harrisburg residents.”

“The challenge to meet the needs of our homeless and hungry population demands teamwork and innovation,” said Elaine Strokoff, executive director of Downtown Daily Bread. “This program attempts to meet the challenge by combining the generosity of sportsmen with the volunteers that will prepare and serve the meal. The compassion and kindness of Hunt.Fish.Feed.SM will impact all our citizens – both those in need and those generously volunteering their time.”

Hunt.Fish.Feed. kicked off a multiple-city tour in January in Las Vegas and will travel to 10 U.S. cities to feed the needy and bring awareness to the fight against hunger.
