Petersen’s HUNTING Adventures Travels the Globe for Sought-After Big Game for Season Five
06/30/2010

New York, NY (June 30, 2010) – Shot in pristine HD quality, viewers can travel the globe with the hosts of Petersen’s HUNTING Adventures presented by Federal Premium Ammunition as they search for the most challenging sought-after big game when they return for their fifth season exclusively on Sportsman Channel Wednesday nights at 8:30 p ET. All the Petersen’s HUNTING experts are returning: Craig Boddington, Kevin Steele, Dick Metcalf, Mike Schoby and Greg Rodriguez, to give viewers once-in-a-lifetime peeks into hunts where tags are nearly impossible to get, or lands that are unknown to most hunters. Featured hunts include Colorado cougar, mountain caribou, whitetail deer, Shiras moose, Bezoar ibex, Mouflon sheep, Fallow deer, New Mexico elk, antelope, black bear and more! North American and exotic destinations include Texas, the Rocky Mountain west, Hawaii, Spain, Iceland, South Africa, British Columbia and Turkey.

“This is a well-respected show amongst big game hunters that delivers high-action, entertaining, educational value to viewers season after season,” said Executive Producer Kevin Steele. “Along with our great sponsors, including Federal Premium, Savage Arms, CZ-USA, Smith & Wesson, Leupold, Cabelas and Tenpoint, we deliver the whole story on everything from outfitting you for your next hunt to the best way to get there to bringing your game home.”

Ripped from the pages of Peterson’s HUNTING magazine, Petersen's HUNTING Adventures presented by Federal Premium Ammunition delivers all the excitement of the hunt, along with tips and tricks from our expert staff that will make you a better hunter. Featuring the latest in rifles, optics and ammunition, Petersen's HUNTING Adventures will take you on a wild ride around the world as the expert staff takes on big game safari-style with the well-known writers of the “only where-to how-to hunting magazine.”

The first episode kicks off with Mike Schoby on a thrilling hunt in New Mexico for Rocky Mountain elk. “What makes this episode special is the hunting area is in the flats and the guys are forced to make very careful stalks with limited cover,” explained Steele. “In addition, you’ll discover the secrets this outfitter has for what he calls ‘low impact hunting,’ which given the results you’ll soon see, works for him!”

Then, for the first time, the Petersen’s HUNTING crew head to the Middle-East to hunt the legendary wild goat of the Caucasus Mountains of Turkey. Greg Rodriguez travels in the footsteps of Alexander the Great on this high-country adventure in search of the cliff-climbing Bezoar ibex. “It doesn’t take long for Greg to learn that he’s going to get more than he bargained for on this hunt, which turns into a rugged test of his physical and emotional endurance,” remarked Steele.

Craig Boddington must have angels looking down on him as he draw yet another once-in-a-lifetime tag, this time for the rare Rocky Mountain Shiras moose. The third episode opens up with him heading to north-central Colorado for opening day where he’ll test his hunting skills against the “black moose of the rockies.” Boddington also travels to Iceland in episode nine for the European reindeer, who are directly related to North American Caribou. “This is a type of hunt viewers won’t find on any other show. Craig hunts with the descendants of the Vikings for Iceland’s number one big game trophy,” commented Steele.

“The European reindeer is actually the type specimen for all North America caribou...not exactly Santa's team, but a big-antlered animal found in the rugged fjords and mountains of coastal Iceland,” explained Boddington.

And didn’t we say something about Hawai’i? Yes, the Petersen’s HUNTING crew has all the luck as they travel to the once forbidden island of Moloka’i. No one dared to step foot on this island chain of Hawai’i back in the late 1800’s due to it being a refuge for those infected with Hansen’s Disease, or leprosy. Thank goodness modern medicine has allowed a cure for Hansen’s, which allows Kevin Steele to stalk a herd of Axis deer on this beautiful island. “This is where filming in HD makes a beautiful, powerful picture on screen,” said Steele.
