Mayor Tom Barrett Declared July 20 Hunt.Fish.Feed Day

New Berlin, Wis. – (July 26, 2010) – Sportsman Channel's national Hunt.Fish.Feed Tour continued last week in Milwaukee where it helped feed more than 400 of those in need at St. Benedict’s Community Meal. The network partnered locally with Time Warner Cable to create a summer BBQ complete with venison Sloppy Joes, corn on the cob, pasta salad and watermelon. Additionally, Mayor Tom Barrett declared it "Hunt.Fish.Feed. Day" in Milwaukee. The Tour's next stop is August 4 in San Diego where the group expects to feed 1,500 people.

Hunt.Fish.Feed. is a unique outreach program that taps an underutilized food source—game meat and fish donated by sportsmen—to feed those struggling with hunger across America. For more information on Hunt.Fish.Feed., including an informational video, visit www.huntfishfeed.org.

"We were especially excited to bring our Hunt.Fish.Feed. initiative to our hometown community. By all accounts, it was a successful and impactful event that will hopefully make a difference for Milwaukee-area residents,” said Todd Hansen, Chief Marketing Officer of Sportsman Channel. "Programs like Hunt.Fish.Feed provide unique avenues to help the needy, especially during an economic time that finds more and more people in need every day. We are proud to continue to help our citizens across America and in our hometown.”

The event received a warm welcome from the local media, including reports on TV stations:

Additionally, Congressman Paul Ryan (R-Madison) issued a statement thanking Sportsman Channel for embarking on this positive endeavor. “I’m grateful that Sportsman Channel included Milwaukee on their Hunt.Fish.Feed. tour and that so many in our community have assisted in bringing awareness to the fight against hunger. The Hunt.Fish.Feed. initiative and the partnerships it has formed with organizations like St. Benedict’s Community Meal and Time Warner is a great example of how even in challenging economic times, we can rally together to help those in need."

Hunt.Fish.Feed. kicked off a multiple-city tour January in Las Vegas and will travel to 10 U.S. cities to feed the needy and bring awareness to the fight against hunger.
