Treacherous Conditions Faces Family Traditions Team During Elk Hunt on Sportsman Channel
New Berlin, WI – (September 12, 2012) Rain, heavy winds and limited time are what face one part of team Family Traditions with Haley Heath in the Colorado mountains as they search for elk on Sportsman Channel; the leader in outdoor TV for the American sportsman.
An exhaustive hunt gives viewers an up-close perspective on what host, G.O. Heath, and his guides face on a five day journey that bring smiles as this epic bowhunt goes down to the wire. Don’t miss the ebb and flow of Family Traditions with Haley Heath on Wednesday, September 12 at10:00 p.m. ET/PT.
G.O. has already taken two Colorado elk in past trips with a rifle, however; this trip is a bowhunt which presents challenges that he did not expect. Challenges aside, G.O. and his guides are pleasantly surprised by the number of elk heard and seen on day one. Although the bugling is at a fever pitch, the men pass on several opportunities to locate a bigger and more mature bull.
The following day begins later in the morning as “mother nature” interrupts with various conditions of snow and rain. After spotting a bull and missing an up hill shot, G.O. begins to run out of time on his hunt. The luck and momentum change on the final day and final hour of the hunt as large bull presents an opening and this would be a happy ending from 63 yards!
“This is one of the hardest and most gratifying hunts in recent memory,” said G.O., Co-host of Family Traditions with Haley Heath. “This hunt literally came down to the last hour of the last day which makes the adrenaline pump a little faster. Hunting in the back-county of the mountains is always a roll-of-the-dice because you never know what you’ll experience. I would recommend elk hunting in Colorado to anyone who is willing to put in the time.”
