Scott Hastings is a former NBA player and 1990 NBA World Champion with the Detroit Pistons. He currently co-hosts a show on Altitude Sports Radio and is the color analyst for the Denver Nuggets.
His outdoor experiences began at a young age squirrel hunting with his Grandpa. He received his first gun at the age of 9, a single shot bolt action .22 that he still has to this day. Because he was busy on the basketball court for much of his life, he didn’t discover his love for the outdoors until after retirement. When asked what his favorite outdoor memory was he said, “Yet my greatest experience happened sitting in a blind in chest deep water. (I’m 6’10”, I waded to blind, my buddies took a boat) we had gotten all set up, decoys out, shells loaded, thermos and Gatorade at the ready. When the sun came up, laying out in front of me, straight out of the greatest picture you can imagine, was this beautiful moon lit, sun rising 80 acre pond with the reflection of a snow capped mountain reflecting across the water. Stunning is an understatement! I think I fell a couple of ducks that day, but the awe my buddies and I experienced watching the sun rise here in Colorado is the real reason men and women fall in love with hunting! I did! I’m late to this game, but God granted me a memory that will last forever! And one I want to experience over and over!”
